MACCLESFIELD CANAL - 07/05/03

Tonight we go for a short walk along the Macclesfield Canal, part of the Cheshire Ring. The weather is really dull, making photo taking difficult, but at least it's dry and fairly warm. The section of the canal we visit tonight is just South of Macclesfield, Cheshire, near the village of Sutton. It is just further north than Bosley Locks, that we visited, 1st May 03.

We were lucky to spot a Heron tonight, fishing on the opposite bank! - On the right, Bridge no. 43, The land next to the canal through this bridge is occupied by Macclesfield Golf Club.

We don't see any boats on the move tonight but there are plenty moored up along this stretch.

Ye Olde Kings Head is a popular stopping place for Canal Barges, with easy access down from the Tow Path.
