BOSLEY LOCKS - 01/05/03

Bosley Locks are located just off the Buxton to Congleton road in Cheshire, near the Bosley Crossroads. Tonight we walk the length of the locks up to the point where the Canal crosses over the River Dane. The weather was fine and bright, after a day of heavy showers.

Bosley locks are on the Macclesfield Canal, there are 12 locks in total.

The views are superb from the canal towpath, the image on the left shows Bosley Cloud in the background, at 1,125 feet high.

The locks are designed to allow boats to navigate the different levels of the canal. The image on the right shows an old, disused railway bridge over the canal.
