TEGGS NOSE & VARIOUS - 27/12/03

The cold weather returns as we visit a few local locations. Teggs Nose, Buxton Road and Macclesfield Forest. The weather is dull and the temperature is borderline freezing.

A few views from the car park at the Visitors Centre, Teggs Nose. The photo on the left looks towards Macclesfield Forest, showing the snow line. The thermometer reads 0.5˚C here.
More images from Teggs Nose, centre photo shows the path from the car park leading towards the old quarry workings.

Our last photo from Teggs Nose on the left before we head towards Buxton from Macclesfield on the A537, a big mistake....

The road is treacherous and not a nice experience, especially when we start sliding backwards on a hill! The temperature has dropped below freezing as we climb and the road doesn't appear to have been gritted. The police are turning cars around as they attempt to close the road. Centre photo shows the police Land Rover racing down towards Macclesfield. We later pass the the car as they are putting up road cones and 'POLICE - ROAD CLOSED' signs.

It is thanks to my co-pilot for the 'in car photos' as we make the slow careful journey back down to the peace of Macclesfield Forest. It's still cold, but there is no snow around here and not even a ripple on the surface of Ridgegate Reservoir, (right photo).
