Carnasserie Castle above, built between 1565
and 1572. The castle was home to John Carsewell, Bishop of the Isles, today
the castle is in the care of Historic Scotland. |

The defences here were both for security and
for show, it was captured and partly blown up in 1685. There are no
admission charges, the castle is a short but fairly steep walk from
the car park off the A816 road, about a mile to the north of the historic
village of Kilmartin. |

small village of Crinan where a series of locks take boats from the Crinan
Canal to the Crinan Sea Loch. |
