MACCLESFIELD CANAL - 15/05/03

Tonight we walk from Lyme Green, Macclesfield as far as Fools Nook and back. The weather is approx. 12˚C and is dry and bright.  We park our car at the Retail Park at Lyme Green, it is easy, flat walking along the canal tow path.

There is a recently restored canal swing bridge along this stretch of the canal, at Gaw End. Summer fast approaching, tonight we spot Canada Geese, Ducks and Coots all with their young.
The canal, along this section runs alongside the Macclesfield to Leek road, the A523, the traffic can be quite noisy at times.
Another swing bridge, number 49 this one, electronically operated is located at Fools Nook, there is also a pub by the same name here.
