The Lake is a very popular place for water activities and we enjoy a cruise from Ambleside towards Bowness-on-Windermere, the Lake District's most popular tourist destination. Pleasure cruises are nothing new here with Steamers operating on the lake since 1845.

Photos centre and right show views from the boat off Bowness Bay on the eastern shore of the Lake. It is thought the lake was made by glaciers 10,000 years ago in the last ice age. There are more photos from the visit in page two, to see click here.
