HARTINGTON- 16/01/05
The area around Hartington in the Peak District
National Park, Derbyshire was our destination today. The village is located
between Buxton and Ashbourne off the A515 Roman Road and then the B5054, about
12 miles north of Ashbourne. The weather today was dull after a bright start
with occasional rain showers, the temperature was approximately 10˚C.

We embark on a short circular walk from
Hartington, heading south along the path next to Rooke's Pottery towards Beresford Dale and the
River Dove. |

We follow the river south as far as the
entrance to the National Trust's Wolfscote Dale before climbing to the east

Farm buildings are shown above on the narrow
lanes before we drop down into the centre of Hartington; the first views of
the village reveal the medieval St Giles Church. To return to our starting
location we walk through the picturesque village past it's former coaching
inns, tea rooms and market square. |
