DOVEDALE - 06/05/06

A few photos on this page from a walk in the Dovedale valley in Derbyshire.

The valley was very quiet apart from the locals thanks to an early start, although it did get very busy here as the morning progressed.

There are beautiful views from the river towards the valley slopes with its old barns and dry stone walls, as well as the many caves cut into the rock over thousands of years.

Our walk reached north as far as the small hamlet of Milldale before starting the circular return journey and climbing out of the Dovedale river valley.

We walk back to where we started near the Izaak Walton Hotel and Thorpe Cloud via Hall Dale which is located to the south west of Milldale. In total the walk was around 5 miles long.
