DELAMERE FOREST - 09/11/09

Autumn colours in Delamere Forest in Cheshire is the theme for this latest page of photographs.

It was a beautiful but cold day in the forest located between Northwich and the City of Chester before thick mists descended in the area; temperatures only reached 4˚C during the day.

These photos were taken on the 7 mile Whitemoor Trail which is one of two easy waymarked cycle trails through the forest. The waymarked walks starting from the Delamere Information Centre are also easy routes; the Linmere trail at 1.7 miles long and Blakemere Trail at 2.7 miles long.

Autumn is one of the best seasons to see Delamere Forest with the low sun, colourful trees and foliage. The forest was also featured on Boots and Paws back in 2003, to see those photographs and for further information click here.

The forest is the largest area of woodland in Cheshire and covers around 950 hectares; in recent years it has been a popular location for open air summer concerts and plans are already underway to bring some of the biggest names in music to the area in 2010, see the Forestry Commission Live Music homepage by clicking here.
