CAT & FIDDLE - 21/12/03

A few photos from the shortest day of the year. We visit the winter wonderland around the Cat & Fiddle Pub on the A537 Macclesfield to Buxton Road. The weather is dry but very cold, as you may notice from the pictures!

As we head toward the Cat & Fiddle from the Goyt Valley the narrow road gets increasingly icy with the first snow of the winter.
It is peaceful enough now despite the icy cold wind howling across the open spaces. I wouldn't have liked to have been around when this snow was falling, the conditions must have been bleak yesterday.

The well known Buxton Road A537, in photos centre and right above, the most dangerous road in Britain. It is busy at the Cat & Fiddle Pub, a lot of people making the most of the winter wonderland conditions.
