CASTLETON, MAM TOR and LADYBOWER - 14/03/03

Castleton - We walk through the main streets and head towards The Peak Cavern, otherwise known as The Devil's Arse! Closed today, at this time of year its only open at weekends. Car parking was easy enough, but I suspect it will be difficult in the middle of summer!
After walking back from the Peak Cavern we head towards Mam Tor.
The walk to the summit of Mam Tor is a fairly short, gradual climb, with good footpaths and well worth the views!

After heading back from the summit of Mam Tor we pay a brief visit to the Ladybower and Derwent Reservoirs.
We park at the Fairholmes Visitor Centre, with refreshments, toilets and an information centre, explaining the history of the area and how the reservoirs were constructed. From here we set off just for a short distance toward the Derwent Dam.
